WSDC History

The WSDC was created in 1999 when the Wisconsin Amateur Sports Corporation merged with the Wisconsin Sports Authority. As a non-profit entity, WSDC provides professional, full-service management of athletic events. Our statewide network of community partnerships help ensure a first-class experience at our state's finest facilities.

WSDC is perhaps best known for the Badger State Games and the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame. The WSDC also serves as the host organization for the Ford Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon. In addition, WSDC promotes health and fitness and positive lifestyles through health education programs. Other events the WSDC has managed and promoted include:

  • The Cheese League-NFL summer training camps

  • 2004 ESPN's Great Outdoor Games

  • 2001 USA Open Volleyball Championships

  • 2000 U.S. Women's National Hockey vs. UW Women's Hockey
